Exciting Times
After all the fighting over the 9/11 memorial in New York City, the United States has finally found an appropriate way to commemorate those who lost their lives. And that way is... the "America Supports You Freedom Walk!" Its purpose, according to the Department of Defense, which is sponsoring the event, is "to honor the victims of 9/11 and America's military personnel, as well as to celebrate freedom." It's a march from the Pentagon to the Mall, ending with a Clint Black concert. Is it just me, or is there something kind of creepy about the Department of Defense organizing a march to show support for the Department of Defense? And is is more or less creepy that they're holding it on September 11? And who on earth came up with the awkward name "America Supports You Freedom Walk"?
Never let it be said that this administration uses 9/11 whenever support for its military adventures is flagging. O brave new world, that has such people in't!
