A valuable project at NASA
Over the years, I've slowly progressed from being a big NASA supporter to a big NASA detractor. I think this is mostly because I don't see the point of the whole space shuttle / space station approach NASA is currently taking which makes it feel like a waste of my money.
However, this is definitely something I'm definitely willing to pay for: blowing up comets. Besides the fact that blowing up stuff is cool (Happy 4th of July!) and that blowing up stuff in space is twice as cool, someday, it just might save life as we know it.
