Who would Jesus vote for?

While it's perhaps of dubious intelligence to get into a political debate with someone on your committee before you graduate, I'm doing it anyways.

Over on mackenab, Allen wrote:
I came to a realization last weekend. I realized that a very strong case can be made that Christians, even fundamentalist Christians, ought to support John Kerry for President. I am toying with how to best present this argument in a compelling fashion in a short persuasive essay.
You see why I couldn't pass this one up. Obviously, I had to "help" Allen make his case, particularly as the essay is still in development. So helping as best as I know how, I left the following suggestions in the comments:
Make certain you consider Kerry's voting record and stated support of an unconditional right to abortion. That'll sync up well with Catholic and evangelic doctrine.

And be sure to cite the wider liberal community's (with whom Kerry is associated with) stance on gay marriage. That's obviously gotta conform to Paul's teachings.

Be sure to note how Kerry's of dubious standing with the Catholic church. After all we're all sinners and fallen short of the glory of God.

Be sure to note that Bush is regularly considered to be a devout man of God (some on the left even say too devout).

Be sure to note that Christians don't take kindly to coerced charity and tend to prefer voluntary charity. Definitely mention Bush's Faith Based Initiative on this one too. What Christian would think that was a good idea?

Don't forget Bush's stance on vouchers for private (including religious) schools. No Christian could ever support that.

Definitely include the Christian death penalty fallacy. That's always a winner.

For kicks toss in the "What would Jesus drive?" line. Though in light of Kerry's "family" SUV the essay should remind the reader that Jesus was a carpenter and had 12 or so friends to drive around.

Remind the readers about the 9th circuit's pledge decision. Obviously, the Christians would want some more judges like those on the bench and Kerry'll be the man to appoint em.

Note Bush's strong support of Israel which Kerry will obviously be able to further strengthen in light of the Left's favorable disposition towards Israel.
